UPDATE: BUG FIXES!

Hey all!

In this patch we decided to really try to tackle a few bugs that have been around for quite some time. Some of them being the Quest Completed-bug that has been haunting our users for quite some time, as well as the Disconnect modal popping up. We have also heard some users have issues with getting teleported to previous rooms.

We should have fixed the following bugs:

  • - Accepting friend requests should now correctly show as Accepted instead of nothing happening.

  • - Rejecting friend requests should now correctly show as Rejected/Declined instead of giving Internal Error.

  • STARWORLD:

  • - Users should no longer see the Disconnect modal coming up when they switch room. This issue mainly occured when changing rooms rapidly.

The reason why this bug was a thing, was that the code didn't have time to react to the location of the users, so when the system polled the user it saw that the user was not in that room, and then assumed it was AFK. We have allowed a timer when changing room, to prevent this from happening.

  • - Users should no longer see “Quest Completed or Quest Step Completed” when changing room. This issue occured because the system did not have time to react to whether the users were or were not on a quest with “VISIT ROOM” steps. We have decided to use the same timer (as the Disconnect modal) and let the system ignore those kind of messages while its on cooldown.

  • - Users should no longer get teleported back to previous rooms after making room changes. This issue occured for the same reason as the Disconnect modal. The system simply didn't have time to react to the room change, so when the new room was loaded, the system sent you back, because the databas hadn't been updated. Once again, we use the same timer when changing room, to allow the system some time to update the database, so that the main functions don't send you back. It is important to know that part of this is to cut down the speed in which a user can swap rooms. This normally won't affect anybody at all when it comes to normal clicks, but when you click the bottom left corner to go back - really fast - you will feel a difference. It is still reasonably fast, so it shouldn't be of any issue for anybody really.

  • - Rubberbanding is no longer possible in Starworld, which should be a huge Quality of Life fix for most of you.

What is Rubberbanding?

Rubberbanding occurs when you click on a new location, but the system doesn't have time to react to the change, so when the server loads all the new data, it loads your old coordinates and “snaps” you back to where you were. After you have made a move, we have - once again - allowed the system some time to adapt to said changes. We have bug tested this ourselves, and can't seem to reproduce the issue, even when we're clicking really fast.

  • - You can no longer place portals over hotspot locations. So it should no longer block people from entering rooms because of portals.

As usual when these updates happen, we ask you all to pay EXTRA attention to potential bugs that may have been thrown into existence due to these changes. Also, we ask you all to actually see if the bugs above ARE infact fixed. Some bugs are harder to reproduce, like the disconnect bug, or the quest step announcement bug.

So, we need all of you to do your very best to see if the bugs are still out there or if they are solved. If we don't hear anything from anyone by next Saturday (March 7th) we assume it works.

I wish you all a great Saturday!
