UPDATE: ACHIEVEMENTS, ITEMS AND HEARTBEATS!

Posted by shodiaq July 25, 2025, 7:33 pm

We are proud to inform that we have a big update coming in now. We have been working hard on coming up with a great variety of achievements, new items in the chat (soon to be released) and new STARWORLD mechanics, more of this below.

ACHIEVEMENT (new feature):

We have added many ways of getting Starpoints, with achievements with Starworld relevance aswell as the rest of the website. Contribute, take part and connect with others and complete your achievements for Starpoints. Right now the only reward is Starpoints, but later we'll add badges, items and other things for those who complete the achievements. Many achievements will have auto-progress, so some you might already be half-way completing, or be straight up completed.

How about visit the Starworld and make sure you have explored all rooms? How many items can you squeeze into your room? Wield rare items (won't be handed out lightly)? Or how about play some games. Oh btw, new games are coming in the next week!

STARWORLD UPDATE (HEARTBEAT AND ITEMS).

We have added another set of 10 items to the chat, and this will be my next goal to implement these. These 10, along with the previous 20, will be there for the taking in the next big update which will happen in the next couple of days. We are talking about swords, hats, jewellery, special items. Many of these items are seasonal items, so they will only be available during holiday events such as Halloween, Brewfest, Christmas, Easter etc. Don't miss out!

HEARTBEAT AND AFK-CHECKS!

With achievements coming in, and one achievement being directly relevant to your Total Time Spent in the Starworld, we have added a robust and sophisicated heartbeat-feature. It tracks how much actual time you spend in the chat, and pauses when you change tab, close down the website, go afk etc.

This is how it works:

Every 30 seconds the website will check if you are active. If you are not active - which means in a different tab, minimized window, closed down, or haven't moved your character, mouse or sent any messages, you will be flagged as away. Now, this won't be shown to others - yet - but it will not contribute to your time spent in the Starworld.

Example:

Bob spends 5 minutes in the chat, then opens up another tab or minimize the Starworld window, after 30 seconds he'll have racked up 5 minutes of active time. When Bob comes back, the timer will proceed and add onto the already 5 minutes he's got.

After 5 minutes of failed activity you will be visually flagged as away from the chat by automatically showing the sleeping-emoji. Moving your mouse, sending messages or moving your character will automatically remove this emoji. The one you set manually will persist, however. After 1 hour of inactivity, you will be disconnected from the chat and a window will show informing so, with a button that allows you to reconnect.

This is the core of the achievement related to this, which is why it was implemented. I also think it's the most fair way of calculating someone's activity in the chat.

We hope these updates find you well and stay tuned for the next couple of days!
